  • There are two problems here. There are Americns that refuse to work for minimum wages...kids these days don't have to get out there and work, like they use to do. This leaves the jobs open so the employer hires the immigrants..and not have to pay much money. If Americans would work these jobs..then the immigrants would not have the jobs. It is just a vicious cycle. The Americans are sitting back refusing to work these jobs...and are sitting back flapping their lips about the immigrants.
  • No, I have never known anyone to lose a job to an illegal immigrant. I do know that most Americans don't want to work the types of jobs that many of these immigrants work, for example meat rendering and packing plants. This leads to a terrible situation where these immigrants can be paid ridiculously low wages and have NO RIGHTS at their workplace. Our own American companies help create this situation by outsourcing their production to Mexico, where the people are paid almost nothing for their work. This leaves families with few options other than trying to come to the US to find work. The employers are ultimately to blame, not the people who come to work there.
  • where i live all the illegal immigrants work on farms. i used to work with a bunch of them. they were from mexico. all they do is pick fruit all day. i was there boss so they never took anyones job. they were alway dependable and alway on time for work every day. they never complained about what they had to do, they just got the job done and did a good job doing it. in the winter time they had to prune the fruit trees and even out in the cold working with them i never had a problem. we all used to get a long pretty good. i didnt understand all that they were saying but they were fun people to work with.
  • I haven't either, although I believe the casualties lay within the small industry where employers don't bother advertising to the youth here that are U.S. citizens. We have laws, if we find these laws unjust then there are avenues to rectify this. To allow this to go on unchecked will bankrupt our government and most critical services, such as in Southern California. Payment(illegals paid in cash) without taxation will deny representation to the citizens.
  • Yes. As a matter of fact, my father lost his job as a manager in the shipping warehouse of a small art-supplies company to someone who had immigrated to the U.S. illegally. Both men were college educated, both spoke Spanish well enough to supervise the mostly Spanish-speaking workers, and both had past experience with the work. As far as I know, the only way that my dad was any less qualified than the man who replaced him was that he cost the company slightly more to employ because they had to pay him more. My family has been struggling financially ever since then.
  • An issue is that illegals work for less, don't report labor law infractions such as not getting breaks or lunch because they're afraid to. Yes, I know people who were self employed in welding, trucking, masonry who could not do the job as cheaply as illegals bid and often homeowners do not know a quality job from a job that is not so well done. Mexico doesn't let us stay in their country nor do most nations. It's the illegality I object to because many people are waiting, waiting to enter lawfully. Language is another problem. English please.
  • You can find this easier when checking out industries. Painting, drywalling are just two of many where Americans lose their jobs to illegals.
