  • If you keep it out of doors make sure you have a tight cage and no mink or predators can get in.
  • I would make sure that the rabbit gets regular check ups at the vets.
  • Indoors or out, have a good cage for them. A cage size for a small rabbit is 30" X 30" X 14". This will give your rabbit plenty of room to run around and be a rabbit. Larger rabbits should have around 36" X 30" X 18". Wire is the best material for cages because it's the easiest to clean and sanitize. Wood will get messy quickly, and rabbits tend to chew on it. An all-wire cage is best, but if wood is needed, try and keep the amount of wood available to the rabbit inside the cage or hutch at a minimum. Cages should be kept out of drafts, away from predators, and out of the weather. Also, they should be kept in the shade, because rabbits are very susceptible to heat and can get ill if they are not well-cooled. A sitting board should be provided for larger breeds and for rabbits which have a thinner hair surface of their feet. This is to prevent sore hocks. Get a litter box for indoors and train them to use it. Here's a great page that teaches you how to litterbox train your rabbit. Even if your rabbit has been trained at another home, it will still need to be trained for your home. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/litter.html Feeding is easy. They should get about 1/4 cup of pellets per 6 pouunds of bodyweight. All the hay they can eat and about 2 cups of veggies. Good veggies are: Alfalfa, radish & clover sprouts Basil Beet greens (tops)* Bok choy Broccoli (mostly leaves/stems)* Brussels sprouts Carrot & carrot tops* Celery Cilantro Clover Collard greens* Dandelion greens and flowers (no pesticides)* Endive* Escarole Green peppers Kale (!)* Mint Mustard greens* Parsley* Pea pods (the flat edible kind)* Peppermint leaves Raddichio Radish tops Raspberry leaves Romaine lettuce (no iceberg or light colored leaf)* Spinach (!)* Watercress* Wheat grass (!)=Use sparingly. High in either oxalates or goitrogens and may be toxic in accumulated quantities over a period of time Rabbits should get no seeds or nuts, no human breakfast cereals. They are not rodents. They shouldn't be eating lots of grains. Hay and leafy veggies is what they should be eating.
  • your rabbit should have plenty of food, hay and water and you have to feed them every morning. in the winter it would be wise to have plastic covering the wire of their cage to keep the wind out. it's not neccisary for your rabbit to have check-ups at the vet because they don't really have many problems(i know this from experience ppl. i've had rabbits for 6 years). you should neuter or spay your rabbits unless you want to keep them for breeding. your rabbit should have a roomy cage and if it lives outside it should not be brought in in the highest point of summer or winter as the temerature change can affect their bodies. if your rabbit is large it will live to be about 5 years old and if it is small it will live to be 8-10. hope this helps! :)
  • Rabbits chew electircal cords....like telephone, some keep those away from an indoor bunny. If your rabbit is outside, you will have to watch its water for ice!
