  • IN my opinion people over 80 years old shouldn't be driving because over 80 years old you reflections are not as good as when you are young and in a case of an accident an old man is not so strong as a young one.
  • I believe that a person shouldn't be driving when they start to have medical problems that would impair their ability to drive safely. I think that doctors should be able to notify the state if they feel that a person has a problem severe enough that driving would be an issue. One of my grandfathers is 87 and I would feel safer in a car with him than I would with some people I know half his age.
  • Definately!!! I looked after a 90yr old man, had been in and caused an accident.....it turned out he was partially blind and presented with signs of dementia!!! how can people like this slip through the net??? there are alot of old people that should NOT be on the road.
  • The only thing with very old people is they're so short! They can hardly see over the steering wheel, and they will insist on buying these huge cars! So all you can see is the tops of their heads, and they can't see out. And if they have a bolster cushion, they can't reach the pedals - I mean, it is funny but also very dangerous!
  • I don't think age has do with it so much as condition. If you take care of yourself you can be fine as a senior, but unfortunately not all are like that. I think a retest should be mandatory at 75 or 80. If the person checks out then let them drive. If they show obvious signs of problems then send them to a doctor. I've seen a 90yr old who drove just fine, and later saw a 65yr old who should've been retested. Like I said, age plays a part but it's not the only factor. To be honest, if you're over 100 I think it's time to just call it quits. Too many things COULD happen behind the wheel. You should have enough $$ to pay for your rides.
  • well lets put my thought this way...If it takes you multiple times to back out or park..then its prob. a good idea to hang up the thought of driving.
  • Yes. i think after the age of 65, you should take a driving, hearing and vision test every year
