How can one maintain motivation for intense running?

    You have to set goals for yourself.

    If you get bored try changing your workouts from time to time. People get bored if they do the samething over and over again, no matter what they do.

    Try running at a different place, with different people, if your running on flat grounds, try running up or down hills, try to make your workouts fun.

    If your running long distances, try runner shorter distances but at a faster pace.

    Clip out a magazine picture of a group of runners crossing the finish line and glue a picture of your face on the face of one of the runners.

    I was once a distance runner and that's what I did.
