I think the Roman Empire was one of the most amazing. edit: The roman empire was an imperialistic empire. They were also one of the first, if not the first, to have a truly democratic govt. Contrary to popular belief, the US is not even a democracy...it's a republic. I just find their fight for glory amazing. Look at their empire at its greatest (uploaded image). But, actually, i believe that the Greek culture was truly amazing. Their intelligence truly surpasses any of their time, or even more than a millennia afterwards. Aristotle, Plato, the great philosophers are all Greek. So i do find both these cultures simply amazing.

Well they each were amazing in their own ways. But the Roman Empire to me was the most impressive. It began as a simple fishing town and grew to a kingdom and then a republic and finally a great empire. Its laws and civilized courts and goverment were impressive.
