You have to keep in mind that the romance we see on tv shows isn't real. I feel that in shows where sex and romance is portrayed as special, it retains that quality. Shows like Queer as Folk, which show a million guys having sex with each other randomly, do exactly what you're saying. I don't believe that sex and romance should be removed from the media, but I think we should think about what vision of love we're supporting based on what we're watching. I'll take Boy Meets World over Sex Party XXX every day of the week.

If that's what the movie is about; well it's targeting the audience that wants to see it; however, I've seen lots of films where it was just out of place. I like a good romantic scene but done in a way that it just leaves the details to the imagination. For example, a kiss, a caress, the right music and a fade to black can be very romantic.
