Not really an answer to your question, but kind of interesting. The roots of the story, or poem, of Jack and Jill are in France. Jack and Jill are said to be King Louis XVI who was beheaded (lost his crown) followed by his Queen Marie Antoinette. It gives the line "came tumbling after" a bit more sinister feel, doesn't it?
