It doesn't make sense to me when people are offended by anything, so no.
-
Makes no sense to me. I have one of those, we bought it off a website for the movie Dogma. I actually was my breathing focal point for the birth of my first child.
-
It makes as much sense as imprisoning a woman for naming a teddy bear "Mohammed."
-
Seems pretty stupid like many things that come out with no understanding of who Christ is.
-
It's ironic that smiling, friendly Jesus is offensive, but emaciated, beaten, bloody Jesus nailed to a Roman instrument of torture is made into jewelry. But it's not surprising.
-
I don't find it offensive. I think there are far more offensive things in the world to worry about.

Dogma (in my opinion) was one of the best movies ever made. It tastefully mocked what I think of as the ultimate hypocracy. I think that "buddy christ" is perfectly aligned with the other mockery of society that Kevin Smith does. Nails cigarettes for example.

To me it would make sence because people are offended by anything the way a person dresses to the color of someones skin. Certain people are offended by the old Jesus so it makes sence they would feel the same about the Buddy Jesus. I'm sure it would even offend some staunch christians.

Christians in general, and Catholics in particular? Yes ... but only because *that* DOGMA parody was woefully off the mark - i.e., it doesn't apply to the RCC, and therefore just isn't funny, just as parodying Republicans for being bleeding-heart liberals or PC Nazis isn't funny. It seems just mean, rude, childish and most of all DUMB. Now, if Jay & Bob had used "Buddy Christ" to parody contemporary American evangelicalism, THEN it would be funny. And then the only people who would be offended by it would be the ones who truly NEEDED to be offended by it. But the whole "Catholicism WOW!" shtick in DOGMA was just wrong. That's not what the RCC does. It's what social liberals seem to think the Catholic Church SHOULD do -- you know, dump the celibacy of the priesthood; allow contraception, abortion, divorce and extra-marital sex; start ordaining women; embrace and sanctify homosexuality and homosexual unions (most of your priests are gay already anyway!); forget all that sin and penance stuff; ditch all the death-relics and macabre art, and start getting with the times! Make Catholicism a nice, bright, PC, environmentally friendly, feel-good religion known for "inclusiveness" and "tolerance". Now THAT would be a faux-Christianity that "Buddy Christ" would beautifully satyre.

It is somewhat depressing to me knowing some people are offended by it, but then again, the fact that they have the beliefs they do are more depressing. The existence of organized, widespread, socially acceptable variants of clinical delusional disorder should be depressing to anyone, most of all for the social consequences they bring. For fun, here are "indicators of a delusion", as clinically defined (source = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delusional_disorder): 1. The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force. 2. That idea appears to exert an undue influence on his or her life, and the way of life is often altered to an inexplicable extent. 3. Despite his/her profound conviction, there is often a quality of secretiveness or suspicion when the patient is questioned about it. 4. The individual tends to be humorless and oversensitive, especially about the belief. 5. There is a quality of centrality: no matter how unlikely it is that these strange things are happening to him, the patient accepts them relatively unquestioningly. 6. An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility. 7. The belief is, at the least, unlikely. 8. The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of his psyche. 9. The delusion, if acted out, often leads to behaviors which are abnormal and/or out of character, although perhaps understandable in the light of the delusional beliefs. 10. Individuals who know the patient will observe that his belief and behavior are uncharacteristic and alien. ____ Remind you of anything? ;-)

Of course it makes sense, its blasphemy, but that just makes it all the more funny. http://youtube.com/watch?v=QepgKVOVfZ8 That video makes it even more hilarious.
-
No. But very little people like that say or do makes any sense to me.
