probably when aquatic amphibians poked their googly eyeballs out of the ocean and saw the sun, they developed a primitive, internalized, and unspoken sun-based religion much like in Watership Down.

In the Garden of Eden, God walked with Adam and Eve. They saw Him face to face. There was no "religion", only relationship.

The first religion was to be a path of obedience to God. It recognized our Maker’s right to decide for man what was good and what was bad in a moral and spiritual sense.

As others have said Animism probably. Oldest records of religion probably Mesopotamia or Egypt. Oldest prophetic religion Zoroastrianism I think?
