Don't take my word for it, but if possible, find the person your repairman sold the car to. If you can, try to get him/her on your side and testify against your repairman in court together. If the "innocent buyer" remains stagnant, testify alone, against both of them.

How did he sell the car without the title? It doesn't really matter. What happened is that your car was stolen- plain and simple. You need to go to the police station and report your vehicle stolen. They will interview you and you can then tell them that you left the car at the repair shop.

I'd file a complaint witht the police department.

yes, go to the police! Also... Uh, check your car insurance....

I agree with all of the answers. Your car was stolen. Even if you had abandoned your car at the repair shop, he has no right to sell it. The most that could have been done legally is to tow it at your expense. You need to make a report. You could even think about suing him in a civil case for punitive damages.

First, how long has your vehicle been at the mechanics shop? Second, was a down payment required before any work was performed? and, did you pay it? Third, how did you know that the shop owner sold your vehicle? We need more information. Is something missing here?
