What increasing pressure? Is someone holding a gun to your head? I've found that most people who b***h about 'political correctness' simply want to avoid scrutiny of the prejudicial language they wish to use. In short, they want to be free to openly bigoted. You are free to think what you want. You are even free to (mostly) say what you want. You are NOT free to be offensive and expect no one to take offense.

I can live with it. Changing words doesn't change the meaning, though, in my books. Political correctness is just a more polite way to say something. What's wrong with being polite?

People are saying they are "fed-up" with political correctness, if such a thing does indeed really exists, because they being led by a media looking for a new way to shock and sell papers.

The push to be able to speak politely and identify groups as they wished to be identified, I think, is a good move. However, it's impossible to say anything without offending someone. Pushing PC to that extreme, to avoiding every possible way to offend anyone, is not just ridiculous- it's impossible!

Ive taken quite a liking to all these new "Holiday Trees" in the school...all though they kind of look like some other kind of tree we used to have...Christmas Trees or some non-sense like that!

I agree that it's gotten way out of hand. What ever happened to people just being nice? Furthermore; some people take offense where none is intended and that is just as bad. Why do people make fun of southerners so much nowadays? Answer: We are some of the few that still have a sense of humor about ourselves.

A move to the center is necessary to guard against extremism to the right or left.

It's making a lot of people too sensitive and when people are too sensitive, they are hurt too easily.

Political correctness just means leftist thought control. It was perfectly described in 1984 by Orwell. If you can't say things they don't want you to say, you won't be able to think or do them either. The reason for political correctness is that liberals are only tolerant of people the left of them, and highly intolerant of people to the right. Example: Liberal speakers and teachers are invited to and tolerated by conservative colleges, but conservative speakers are rarely invited and often shouted down when they try to speak at liberal colleges and universities (which is almost all of them).

As many well meaning things often do it started out as a good idea and got out of hand.

a moment of silence....one nation under~ssshhhhhh... holiday trees...and a million other things that are blown WAY out of proportion; why do people go lookin' to be offended these days?????? it seems like that's what's happenin'! whatever happened to the golden rule....or am i politically incorrect in referencing the bible....or to those that don't like the old testament.....geeeez obviously most things have fallen WAY on the ridiculous side...just like people these days to think~ "if a little is good then a whole bunch must be better"; and by the way.... a am a person~so don't blame the next alien you meet for this response.

We DO need to be aware of all of the different holiday and religions and sexualities and races and genders and all that other stuff. We really do. And we need to be respectful of them just like we would want someone to be respectful of ours. However, don't tell me not to say or do this and that if you are going to say and do things the way you please without taking my feelings into consideration. This is a two way street of acceptance here. Can't we all just get along?
