  • Remove the trim piece from around the dash front, take out the four screws that hold the gauge pod in place and pull gauge pod out as far as it will come then unplug the harness, remove the screws holding the pod together (they may be torx screws), remove the bulb behind the service engine sign. . . if you have led's on an integrated circuit instead of bulbs follow the directions above but instead of pulling a bulb you will have to scratch the copper off the circuit board that powers the led
  • If you want to 'turn it off' the correct way, you need an OBD-II code scanner that can clear the codes. If you wish to disable it permanently (which I do NOT recommend as it constitutes tampering with the emissions control system and is a violation of Federal law), then I submit the following haiku from the cartalk.com web site: http://www.cartalk.com/content/features/haiku/index.html "Check engine" light on. Unscrew the dash. Stab with pen. "Check engine" light off.
