  • Take him to another vet, right away. Your vet may have missed something. This happened to my sister's dog, and the secons vet found the problem. Best of luck to you and your dog.
  • Find another vet. It could be your dog can't be treated and is indeed very sick, but vets are human and some are better than others or follow a hunch another didn't have. If you care for your dog and think he can be treated, find another qualified vet.
  • I think if my vet "gave up" without at least referring me to someone else, he/she would be an ex vet. I would get him to another vet as soon as possible. Best of luck and I hope your dog will be okay.
  • What do you mean "your vet gave up"??? What kind of vet do you have, anyway. Take your dog to someone responsible.
  • I have the same problem. My 10 1/2 year old Labrador Retriever has been vomiting over 3 weeks and the vets don't have an answer. I also have spent over $1200 for them to say they can't find where the problem is and why he keeps vomiting. Any recommendations???
  • Alot of vets miss a condition where the esophagus enlarges and the muscles can longer function...the dogs will throw up unless food is administered with the mouth at a 45 degree angle and you keep the dog in a sitting position with the chin up for 15 minutes after eating...If you've had x-rays done bring to another vet to look for condition..megaesophagus. Good luck
  • "Giving up" is not really professional. I agree with the first 5 posts. Please seek out a second opinion, as there very well could be another solution to this problem. In the mean time, I would really look into a home-cooked diet instead of dry kibble or wet food. Maybe that could help settle his stomach since it is an all-natural alternative.
  • I have a great vet that explained my Black Lab has excess acid production when her stomach is empty. We try to leave little bowls of kibble around for her to eat throughout the day and at night before bedtime. For the most part it works. But, since she is an emotional doggy, when we leave the house for long periods of time she gets upset and protests her food. So we deal with her yacking often. It's been 4 years of this and she seems healthy and happy, gets great check ups. It concerns me at times, but like the original post, vets see nothing else wrong with her.
