well....it's very strange! they have to tell you why your being terminated (remember: they can lie~) but at least some sort of reason should be given; even "at will" states have to offer that....no matter what the reason is. good luck and i'm really sorry you had that happen to you during the holidays....sounds like someone who doesn't deserve you as an employee anyway....!!!

If you live in a right to work state they need no reason. It's called employement at will.

Your employer has to tell you why. Then you need to see if you can obtain a severence package.

Depending on what state you live in they do not need to give you a reason but they will have to give the state you live in one. In GA an employer can terminate an employee for no reason at all but if the employer is smart they will have some reason documented so they don't get hit with a wrongful termination suit. Also if can you for no reason you can collect unemployment. Again in GA they do not need to tell the employee why he was terminated but they will have to tell a judge if it was due to incompetancy when you file for unemployment. You need to check with the unemployment office nearest you for your state and find out your rights. So many people don't know there rights and employers screw people. Also give a call to the HR office of the company that fired you and see if they have any documentation about their reason. You should have full access to your employee file. Good luck.
