  • Indians....people always hunted for food. Also the animals had much more space here on earth before everyone came here and took over the laNd.
  • Natural Selection.
  • Because there were predators.
  • Perhaps there were more predators. Hunting was not "invented" for sport, but rather survival..food, clothing..etc. There are more man made products now and most of the food is mass raised and produced to feed the population. There are fewer places suitable as habitats..less food for the animals..fewer predators (except for man of course), if wildlife were not kept thinned out there would not be enough food or territory for them and all would suffer.
  • People didn't invent hunting, Hunting and predation have existed as long as animals have existed. Man has always been the most successful natural predator which is why we are where we are today, Survival of the fittest rules in the animal world and man worked his way to the top. That is why so many still hunt. It is a natural instinct in humans as well as animals just as a domestic cat or dog still hunts even though he no longer has to. It is still instinctual in many people. We have been the main natural predator of all animals since mammals showed up on the planet and probably the top controller of wildlife populations since that time.
  • Hunting has always been a survival tactic. It was not invented by humans. Many, many animals do it. We've just turned it into a past-time, also. And it also depends on what your definition of 'under control' is. Mother nature always finds a balance, despite our tendency to try and thwart her efforts.
  • People didn't invent hunting just more variations. Before us population was controlled by disease, predation, and hard living.
  • No offense, but I think you have a confused notion of "under control." Populations fluctuate based on the resources available and their ability to adapt to the environment. In times of plenty, a species will expand; in times of scarcity, the population will contract. It is a natural process. There is no such thing as "under control" - species continue to expand or deteriorate based on the resources available to them and their ability to survive in a given environment. This is confusing these days because humans have said "Fuck the Earth, we will decide what species live and in what number."
  • Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! Parasites, predators and plague, oh please. Floods and fires and droughts, oh dang! Tongue in cheek, ey? Seems like a good way to git your tongue bit. The human who*invented* hunting shudda took out a patent, he'd be as rich as the guy who invented farming. A Mr. Farmer, if memory serves, I beleive he married a miss Weaver. They'd be richer than the Banker family if they hadn't taken out that loan.
  • The pre-existing predators killed and ate all the protesters first, before they could complain about how cruel it was to hunt poor, defenseless herbivores who didn't have sharp teeth to defend themselves with.
  • When an animal population gets out of control there are mass die-offs due to lack of sufficient food for all. That's long-term starvation. Maybe hunting isn't as bad as it's painted to be. It's not beautiful but it gives life to another. That should be respected.
  • The wildlife probably continued to grow until the various species had reached "carrying capacity", as most species do when placed in an environment that affords them that opportunity.
  • natural selection.
