Ford ranger 98 with 4x4 issues. I can't get the 4 wheel drive to work, when I try it the front just clicks and slips, while in 2 wheel drive the front end vibrates and hums increasingly. Is it a trans problem or 4WD problem?

Get your front diff inspected, and if that checks out then move to the front drive shaft. If that checks out look @ the front axle, if that checks out have a look at the transfer case. If somehow everything checks out look @ the wheel bearings. That would be what I would do.

sounds like a broken hub or hubs they are just plastic recommend replacing with warn hubs disassemble remove rotors repack wheel bearings with new seals and reassemble.
