  • Fungi has often been used as a food source in many cultures; This has been both a benefit and also a drawback, as there are many very poisonous varieties that will very quickly kill a person who mistakenly consumes them. Fungal Spores (such as those from various mould varieties) contribute to many respiratory problems and hay fever like symptoms in large proportions of the global populace. This may be more along the same lines as some fungi being poisonous though. Fungal growth is responsible for the spoiling of many foodstuffs, most notably Milk, which only relatively recently became commercially viable on a large scale due to the development of Pasteurisation processes. Other fungi however are responsible for history making medicines such as Penicillin, a vital early antibiotic that is still in use today. Hope that helps!

(Addendum: If your biology instructor mentions the harms that some are poisonous, mention that mushrooms are a fungi, and report teacher to BSSS for incompetence.) Hope that helps you! (Addendum: Do not include addendums in your answer, or you may suffer grievious punishment.)
