  • Use a soft dry cotton cloth to remove fingerprints and smudges from the screen. If this does not completely remove the dirt and splotches, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol on the cleaning cloth that has been dampened with water. (A small amount of vinegar can be substituted for the isopropyl alcohol.) Again, spray the liquid on the cloth and never directly onto the screen. Do not use paper towels on an LCD screen as they can scratch the screen. Never use ammonia, ammonia-based cleaners, or strong cleaners which can cause the surface to yellow and become brittle. It is good to have a special clean cloth that is dedicated to use on the LCD screen. Don’t pick up any old rag, as dirt particles in the rag can scratch the surface of the screen. Special LCD cleaning cloths are available and can be an excellent investment. The best cleaning method is to stroke the cloth across the display in one direction, moving from the top of the display to the bottom. compukiss.com Q. - What are acceptable cleaning agents for cleaning my LCD Screen? • In most cases, the screen usually needs only a light dusting. I use a hand-held Swiffer (tm) duster to dust my audio and video equipment, since this product works quite well for this job. This product is very useful for dusting where there is limited space or around more delicate components, such as a tonearm or tubes. (It is a very expensive way to do general household cleaning, so I only use these products with my A/V hardware). Old cotton dish towels, terrycloth towels, cotton diapers, or microfibre cloths also work well. If there is any grit adhering to the screen, such as may occur if the screen was out-of-doors, care must be taken to avoid scratching the surface of the display. This is usually manufactured from plastic instead of glass, which is much heavier and more scratch-resistant. The grit should be lightly blown off, if possible, or removed very carefully with a light dusting. You may need to remove larger particles by hand. For heavier cleaning jobs, such as removing a child's sticky hand prints, a commercial glass cleaner can be used with a soft cloth (e.g., old cotton dish towel). The cleaner cannot contain any solvents, such as alcohol, because of the risk of damaging the plastic screen. A light spray, followed by careful cleaning, should remove any gunk. I normally use a product like Windex (tm) or one of its less-expensive clones such cleaning. Avoid using a cleaner with perfumes or other additives. Footnote: If all else fails, I sometimes use isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesive or gummy residues, such as might be left by tape. However, it is not recommended for general cleaning because it may leech chemicals out of the plastic(s), possibly damaging the surface. This is also a risk when using isopropyl alcohol to clean LPs.
  • I normally use a micro fibre cloth that you can buy down at the local hardware store or at a walmart. they are normally blue and work very well on dusting of the screen. If you want to clean of finger prints just get the end of you're fingers wet under the tap and flick some water on the screen and wipe it of. Also for a deeper clean that is good for getting greese marks of from hands and what not. Use a eye glass cleaner. spray it onto the cloth and wipe the psp down. These all work well for me. Hope this helps
