Is there a way to get homemade candy (sugar, water, vanilla) off of a plate it is stuck to and still preserve its edibility?

Sit the plate in the sink with some hot water (just the bottom of the plate)...keeping the bottom of the plate in contact with the hot water should help loosen the candy.

I actually answered my own question. I figured putting a little water on a butter knife and then slipping it around the edges would help bring it up, and it did.
