No, There are several options...I will give you two. One is to take the time and learn HTML coding, it is very easy once you get the hang of it. The other option is quite simple, there are many programs that help you with designing a Web site. My personal favorite is DreamWeaver. You could perchase that and it will walk you through step by step how to create your own Web site. Very simple and very fun!

You can probably do the design stuff on your own, but setting up e-store functionality, inventory tracking, usage tracking, back-end, page rank optimization, etc. can be really helpful and might be more than you want to bite off alone. It's a common mistake to launch a web-based business with the intention to get to those things "once things start taking off", but that logic can kill you.

If you want to have success, then you should do hire one. My advertising company site is in my native language for now, and i can t be bothered now to translate it in english, so i won t recommend myself, but someone else. Search on google, or ask friends if they know someone. Let me explain. If you invest time and money in your website, and you fail, which it is most probably if you are not a pro ( even pro fail sometimes ), you will just loose the time and cash and eventually if you need success you will need to go to a pro. So the first money are wasted. And dear sir, for a site to be competitive you don t need to hire a web design service... A web design service just designs your site. You need to go to an advertising company ( there are many that offer webdesign too ), and get the full package. That is webdesign, hosting, SEO, and all what is about promoting a website. So, yes, you need a pro if you want a good job done. Else, do what people said, modifiy something bought by yourself. But a competitive site includes a one time design, not a copied layout..
