I think it sounds nice, but unfortunately, can't always be the best policy. Sometimes, unpleasant things just have to be said. If everyone who had complaints or grievances followed that rule and just kept their mouths shut, a lot of problems would go unaddressed.

I think my mother beat Thumper to the line. I heard that twice a day for the better part of 15 years (I might be slightly exagerating here, but that's the way it felt) when I was a kid. I think it is permanently woven in. ;o)
