It would only be annoying if it sounded as if you were trying to "one up" me or something. I know people like that...grrr!

No - it is a common communication style. I happen to like hearing others examples because I need that concrete example to learn from. But as Drastic said, it is annoying when it comes with the note of one-upsmanship.

No. you cannot beat a persons experiences in life. You pass along things you have learned, along with your mistakes. Most questions are asked by younger people. by their questions, you quickly learn that they have not had many life experiences. Like one person asked how does a man shave? I give examples. this seems to work for me. Keep on keeping on. you never know what a person will learn from your answer. Its like working at a radio station and ask yourself. "is anyone really listening to me?". They may not comment, but will read and learn from your experiences.

If not done properly it might appear you always want to one up the other person's experience and aye.. that can be annoying.
