  • It sounds like you went too quick in the introduction phase. Your new cat should be set up in a 'safe room' where it can get used to you and the smells of your home. If your cats can smell the new one from under the door that works nicely, too. Try switching the cats places, new into the house, your cats in the safe room. Place a towel or bedding used by the new one in the house where the original cats can smell it and get used to it. After a few days of this, then place a wire panel or something between the two in the door so they can see each other, smell face to face. Then next day try letting them be with each other but only for a short period of time. Do NOT pet the new cat at all during this until all seems calm and settled, maybe not even the first 2-3 days you try this. When things seem safe, you may let them try being together but be prepared to take a few steps back again, if needed.
