Yes when they are the closes thing I have or it I cannot find my scissors which is the way it works at my house.

I have, and I use them for a screwdriver, and can opener, even a mini crowbar. I've seen self-defense suggestions that we should carry them in our palm with the point facing out between the fingers to use as a weapon, but I've never tried that.
