  • I will allow others the choice to do this, but I never could. It's just too final. I have spoken with several surviving bridge jumpers. Every single one of them stated that they regretted the decision half way down to the water.
  • Not generally good for your health.
  • As in helping someone pass who is suffering terrible pain from a disease or illness??? Why not!! We put our pets down when they are sick yet we let our loved ones suffer in agony. Does not make any sense to me.
  • Assisted suicide ought to be legalized in more jurisdictions. We're all going to kick the bucket eventually and perhaps being given the choice of dying with dignity or without suffering would be preferable to most. We all have the right to live, why take away the right to die as we see fit? I watched a CTV documentary on this subject the other day, that followed a very sick man from his decision, his travel to Switzerland to an organization that does this legally there, right up to his last breath. There was no impulsive idea here. It was carefully thought out by all involved. He died with dignity and pain free. More importantly, it was his choice and his family members stood behind him. At all times during the decision making process, up the the very last minute, he was allowed "outs" and informed of the consequences. He was also psychologically and medically screened to ensure that 1/ He was going to die of his illness no matter what, horribly. 2/ He was of sound mind in choosing to die assisted.
  • Personally I believe each person should have the right to choose whether they live in pain or die peacefully. I think it is only right to allow physicians who choose to do so, help them die with dignity.
  • its a very personal decision. and the state should have nothing to do with it.
  • It's his/her life to continue to end.
  • If someone wants to die without it costing tax payers, I support it. (i.e. assisted-suicide in a hospital, not suicide where police have to investigate.)
  • i dont need no help. i dont even read the instructions. i just look at the pictures.
  • I think we should have the freedom to choose assisted suicide, as long as we can make that choice personally, and it is not made on our behalf by someone else.
  • well first of all thats murder and second only one will get the wish of death the other will have to face life. either way its not good.
  • Only if you're 70 or older or in some serious incurable mind-boggling pain or all your limbs have been amputated. Something like that.
  • I am all for it. It should be my decision when and how I want to die. Nobody knows how much a person is suffering and so it should be the person's choice.
  • I agree with Sue Rodriguez( when she wanted to commit suicide because of her disease..that would have had her choking to death eventually ) who said "Whose life is it anyway". I think we treat our pets better than our loved ones as far as dignified deaths go.
  • I think it is wrong karmically to kill oneself before it is the right appointed time to leave this life.Life is precious and should be treated as so.
  • I think the clinics are the best way its reulated and certain requiremnets are needed Im all for it I would never want to be a burden, plus its humiliating to have to have everything done for you
  • The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It's impossible to regulate. It leads to eugenics.
  • I think it should be made more available. I believe everyone has the right to live or die. We know our own mind and therefore know if we want to live or die, and those of us who do want to die, there isn't that help available. So they have to live depressed and possibly self harming. Not the best way to live.
  • I'm all for it. I have had two people die in four months that if they had a choice they would of wanted it different. But had no choice so the doctors sucked the insuranse dry untilled they died.
  • We put down animals that suffer without a second thought, so I think we should be allowed to die if we so wish, and I think it should be regulated strictly, so as to prevent murder.
  • Providing the person is able to clearly communicate that it is their wish to die, and there is a doctor present when the assistance is given, I see no problem. Far better that those left behind are given the chance to say goodbye and potentially to show the utmost love by assisting them on their way, than someone in extreme distress maybe trying to find ways to commit suicide alone or living a torturous life unable to end it. As has been said; we treat animals with more compassion and dignity!
  • Provided there are appropriate safeguards then I'm all for it.
  • I feel that this is something that ought to be legalized. If someone wants to end their life, that is their business. Why should I, or the government, have power to decide the outcome of somebody else's life?
  • Personally, I think that if someone has a terminal disease and they have tired of trying to survive, they should be free to have the option of ending their life. And they should be able to do so with dignity as opposed to subterfuge. We should all be able to chose when we've lived to our fullest. Who, other than ourselves, would know that best? (this answer is not an invitation to religious discussion).
  • for, so theres more air for me to breathe.
  • Well last fall we, Washington State, voted on that. It was passed but I voted no. I wasn't realy sure about that. But my grandmother had pancreatic cancer which was painful and slow. I really wish that I would voted for it because I don't think anyone should have to go out like she did.
  • I personally agree with Euthanasia. I mean people put their animals down if they're in pain so why should humans have to suffer? And besides surely putting an animal down is legal murder and therefore euthanasia is not as bad. And before people come at me telling me it's against the will of God, I appreciate that. I am a christian and I do agree it is against the will of God but you have to remember that God gave us free will and therefore I believe that as long as it is done to end suffering and it is a personal choice and it is carried out by someone qualified to do so, it's justifiable.
  • I'm all for suicide. What's that Timmy, you're having trouble making your noose? I'll be happy to help you out with that!
  • I am for assisted suicide. It's not up to our government whether or not someone should have to live in agony, unless they are a felon. If someone is suffering and really needs to die already, then let them die. It's their life, not yours.
  • I am for assisted suicide, we should have the right to decide when we're ready to go.
  • Having assisted someone, I am for it. She was my grandmother and was dying of colon cancer. The last days were awful, she just wanted to die. She was in so much pain and there was nothing she could do. she kept trying to die on her own and finally asked me to give her all of her morphine.I did. It was the hardest things I ever did, but she finally went into a peaceful sleep and died. She went for 15 days without food or water. She was throwing up her bowls.(sorry for the graphics) The pain was just heart wrenching. She could only sleep when she passed out from the pain. I think assisted suicide in cases like this should be legal. No one should have to suffer like she did.
  • For. I don't have an elaborate reason why except from personal experience. It does however matter on the condition of one's health. I'm not going to help you kill yourself if you're some stupid, yet healthy emo kid. I also notice you are against it and I am curious why. It may sway my opinion perhaps because I have never really thought of the matter that much.
  • For. I do not think it is suicide if you are going to die in short time anyway. Suicide is ending a life which had perspective. People who are ill and have no future should decide wether they want to die slowly and painfully or leave without pain. Besides it actually is not suicide because it is from a medical point of view. It has nothing to do with a persons mental state, but with their physical condition.
  • I think if you want to off yourself and you ask someone else to bear the burden of participating you are a coward and an asshole.
  • For. When in doubt, as I am on this issue, I always err on the side of increased freedoms. If someone wants to die, they should be allowed to die.
  • personally my opinion is that it depends. If a person were in such physical pain and they were not going to make it very long anyway, perhaps it would be the more humaine thing to do. However if a person were otherwise fine physically I think other forms of treatment would be more appropriate.
