Absolutely! The Music of The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix..all the iconic music creators loved a little thing called LSD. I'd say it was worth it.

I lived in the Bay Area in the late 60's-early 70's.

It's hard to believe that the drug culture didn't have a positive effect on the music.

After all, if the effect was negative who can comprehend how good the music would have been?

Of course. That's why their music sounds so good when you're stoned.

most definitly my friend.. Look on youtube for a guy called "Bill Hicks" about drugs and music together, he'l answer that question for you haha. I know for a fact that Jimmy was constantly tripping, so there has to be an explanation for that... don't you think?

Yes. Not to say drugs are NEEDED to create music, but if a creative mind takes hallucinagens, it does in fact enhances and broadens the imagination, up to a certain point of course.

Yes it did. I have done hallucinogenics and it made me see things differently both visually and creatively.

I have played music while high and it did do some things to me both good and bad.

They may have been more creative but performance will suffer. I'm sure they thought of things they would not have if straight.

No, I think that the environment, everything around them did that. I twas the era itself. There has always been great music each era but different. And drugs weren't responsible for each of them.

Yes of course it did. It affected their perspective thus their music. With certain artist you can tell their sound changes as they change drugs.

I think what it did it make them think up the crazy ideas and turn them into songs. It worked though...because so many other folks were on drugs that it sounded right to them!

This is a very interesting question concidering my friend told me the answear yesterday. The reason the old artists, and composers belived the hallucinagenics inspired them, is because when you are on a trip, any randome sound you may hear at any given time, will give you a phantome taste or smell. This works inversly with all of your senses. For example, when you get the munchies on pot, you say, "hey, lets get a pizza!", the taste of the pizza combining with the smell of the weed in the air may send the sound of what appears to be a kick butt guitar solo to your ears. The sweet solo is actualy mostly white noise, but when your stoned, everything sounds good.

speaking from first hand experience, yes. but then again i stayed clean through my music theory and music history classes. I think those who were frying their brains were already genius... i guess i am just saying that there were probably tons of people on drugs making crappy music, and a handful of them made good music. you would be surprised what people like based off popular taste. everyone thinks they are so free and unique when they are following the heard. it is kind of a paradox.

    OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just look at the BEATLES pre and post LSD use quite a difference.

LSD took the greatest band in the world and turned them into biblical superheroes, overnight I might add.

drugs dont do good things for the performance but they can make you see an interesting view on the perspectives of life and what is around you therfore in that sense i guess that drugs like lsd did influence musical artists but it didnt nesseserily mean that it did any good! drugs turn people into pricks n zombies dont do them

I doubt it. Great music has been around for centuries when LSD wasn't available.

Drugs are not essential for creativity.
