Because most people don't care. They figure it's all the same. For example. My name is "Alyson" 90% of people who have known me more than two years STILL spell my name "Allison". It's frustrating. Now, my friend Chaquita (sha-QUEE-tuh) was called "Chiquita Banana" enough in her life... and never spelled my name wrong.

I would guess because the name Britney could be spelled with a double t. I never seen anyone spell it like that but who am I to judge?

Because Brittany is the traditional spelling of the name. Britney's spelling is made up.
