Why do non smoking people social smoke?

It's usually when they drink. You and I both know how good alcohol and cigarettes taste together.

Personally I social smoke so that I would not be viewed as the odd one.

Some people have a small degree of social anxiety, and use smoking as a way of soothing some of that anxiety. Others sometimes do it as a way of "social bonding," as they don't want to be the only person in a group to be NOT smoking. Everyone has their own reasons.

Hahaha, something to fidget with maybe, I know sometimes I'll order a drink and not drink it just to have something to do. I'll just lick the ice cubes and not drink any of it (usually when I'm the driver)

To just have fun with the group. I would condone cigars as opposed to cigarettes because you know when they are alone, they won't want to light up a cigar as much as they would a cigarette, hence they remain nonsmokers for the most part.

perhaps they are closet smokers. But since i am not a closet smoker i can't really say for sure why they do it.

How can you call it social smoke. I don't smoke and couldn't social smoke, But huby smokes a bit then a bit more that started has social. I say "unsocialble " smoking. But agree most of it is to fit in or not miss gossip. I can get gossip after the smoking happened or even be with in group with out being offended
