A water purifier is not necessary on a cruise ship. The ship has separate holding tanks for potable and non-potable water. The water from the tap in your room is perfectly acceptable for drinking.

I would totally take one. The tanks are not scrubbed out, as rinsing with clean water and added chlorine is acceptable. [Chlorine causes cancer- halocytic acid is a by-product of adding the chlorine.] Bacteria thrives everywhere, ppl are always sick on board, so too much or too little, you never know. Why risk it? You are already getting enough [whatever] in the ice... This is the one thing ppl buy most the second the get off and take cases on board w/ them. That and the expensive alcohol. What kind? They have little water bottles with built in activated charcoal filters.
