G'day Gabstar, Thank you for your question. Threatening people over the phone is certainly illegal. I would suggest that your parents speak to a lawyer asap to seek a restraining order against him. I would also see what the situation is about recording any threats he does make. You should also speak with the phone company getting them to change the number urgently. Regards

Thanks to the internet, people's private lives are not private, anymore. You can locate a persons phone number, social security number and medical records, if you know how to access the correct sites. If this person is calling and threatening you, call the police and make a report for intimidation. advise this person of the police report. if this does not stop the calling, then seek a Restraining Order. each time this person calls will be 10 days to serve in jail. Make the call and make the report for your own safety.

It won't matter if he changes the number. You can get anything and everything online about anyone. I was a bounty hunter for a while when I was younger. You would be shocked at what you can get for twelve bucks. You can even get a real time satelite video of your house. your best bet is the police and if it continues a restraining order and record some of the conversations for evidence. it'll make it easier to get the restraining order.

Yes, it's illegal to threaten anyone. Call the police.

Tell him next time not to call you again. If he does, dial *57 to have the call traced. Then go to the police station and put a legal complaint. Most phone companies will charge you $5 for the *57 (Call Trace) but the police will call and warn him and he will realize that he can't dial the phone number with impunity anymore. Catch him a second time and put in another complaint and he will be seeing a judge.

This is illegal activity. Keep a log of the times and dates he has called or calls. Police will need this to take a harrassment report. Make special note if he threatens physical violence, as that's considered a separate charge in some jurisdictions. File a report with the police and take that report to the courthouse so you can get a restaining order (sometimes known as an injunction). If you can, record the phone calls using a tape recorder or your answering machine. Good luck.

Their are some websites that if you pay them they can actually give you even a cell number, that's more than likely how he got it...

In most places it is considered telephone harrassment for someone to keep calling after you ask them to stop..that is illegal. And making threats is certainly illegal. notify your local law enforcement, they will tell you how to go about putting a stop to it.
