  • An $18 cocktail sounds insanely high. I would walk out without a tip and go to an affordable bar.
  • A couple bucks is generous enough. Where in the world are you ordering an $18 cocktail?
  • Here's a fair tip, "order something else." lol
  • "You really ought to think about lowering the price of that cocktail" is the tip I would give! Alternatively, 20% will do.
  • Here's an answer (instead of tipping you on leaving the bar and go to one of those other cheap holes those other people who answered like to go to)... Keep your glamour and poise, you order that $18 cocktail honey and pay that guy a generous $4 tip. You wouldn't want to lose face in such a place would you? ...besides ... you still owe me two-three drinks for that bet we had last time... remember?
  • Where the hell in NY are you going for a $18 drink?? Is this at Scores?
  • NOTHING!!! that is bloody expensive!
  • Depending on how labor intensive it was, I would say start at $4
  • Where the hell are you drinking and what is in this cocktail???? There better be diamond or gold chips in that thing
  • I would suggest a $2 tip on an $18 cocktail One thing about tipping bartenders- ( i bartended a while back). If you know you are gonna hang out at the bar for a while (and it is a pay-as-you-go place that does not do tabs)...and especially if you know the place is gonna get busy later on then make the first tip a REALLY good one. Then you can tip very lightly or not at all as the night progresses until you give a final tip at the end of the night. That accomplishes a couple of things: 1. The bartender will keep good tabs on you and give you better service throughout the night especially when it gets busy 2. You may get at least one free drink if not more.. 3. If you are on a date you will look good.. 4. You actually save money by not tipping in dribs and drabs throughout the night and forgetting how much you are actually tipping. also when it is not busy ask the bartender his/her name- and use it when you need something. Always better than Hey or Yo.
  • I would leave a $2 tip on an $18 cocktail.
