OK, Why is it that every time someone talks about State run or Government run anything, it's always the worse case scenario? Why can't gov. run be good and fair/balanced or just?

It's all about advertising. Would you complain if the item you bought (based on it's advertising) turned out to be crap? I know I would. Same with politics - people usually have a problem with being lied to, having their expectations raised, only to be dumped on from a great height. I could go on (and on and on) but it's all too depressing.

The problem with most government run programs can be traced to one of two things: 1. The administrative heads of the program, department, etc is a political appointee who was chosen based upon his/her contribution to the election of whoever did the appointing. Ability usually has very little to do in the decision process. 2. The appropriating authority (congress) will either fund or not fund the program based upon a political agenda. Bottom line, most gov't programs are doomed to fail
