I haven't seen it yet but I'm not surprised if it's good. Frank Darabont wrote the screenplay and directed it. He's already done two great adaptations of Stephen King's work: The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

I have seen it, and it was just as great as I expected it to be. I knew it was going to be good as soon as I heard about it. It was just....sooo good.

I was disappointed. I thought the special effects were cheesy, the monsters a bit too silly in design, and some of the characters a bit flat. I also found it to be suspenseful but without any payoff. It was well made and well acted as much as it could be with its thin characters and premise but overall not good.

The previews make it look a lot like The Langoliers (sp?). The premise being that basically the rest of the world ceases to exist and only a small group of people are left. Without any spoilers, can you confirm that?

Just saw it - the ending ripped my heart right out of my chest. That wasn't a horror - that WAS horror. If you've ever played any 3D Legend of Zelda, then the first thing that hits you when you see the demon spiders is 'skulltula'. I had to laugh at that.
