I don't think they are all true but most of them seem to have some sort of truth to it, such as "friends of a feather flock together."

Well, instead of using a word we use an arrangement of words to convey an intended and commonly understood concept. But if we keep using the same arrangement of "whatever" to convey something then it becomes vague and looses it's credibility because it is used so often that it becomes diluted and misinterpreted. And in order for anything to become cliche they are absolutely unoriginal. Some people would find it very awkward and degrading to not have full ownership of what they do and say.

I believe that all cliches ARE true - the fact that sayings become cliches is testament to that! People often dismiss these snippets of advice or consolation as 'cliches' and ignore them, but if one really thinks about it, the fact they have become cliches is because they have been said and used so often... therefore there has got to be some truth in them.

I am not going to make a sweeping generalization and say that they are all true as I do not believe that. Of course there are clichés that are true, though.

No , I cannot think of any reason why they should be more true than any other part of conversation or life.

Yes and my favorite is Don't believe everything you read.

yes to some degree. all cliche's have an element of truth that's why they're overused and frustrating often times to hear

Sometimes cliches are true. sometimes they are not true. cliches are based on ppls experiences and they were passed down from generation to generation.
