Actually most of the street names where I live and in my home town are traditional names that were named for a reason, examples included Manor Rd (a road which used to have a large Manor house on it), Station Rd (errrr I wonder why that was named lol) ect. So, No I dont.

In our town there are several ways in which streets are named. For example, the city keeps a list of names, nominated by residents of acceptable names for new streets; then when a new housing development is buit, the developer can choose some of those names. Also, a housing developer can choose its own names and apply to the city for permission to use them - these will usually be pretty mundane names, like trees. Then the city council can name streets after civic luminaries, but this is usually for high-profile streets or re-naming streets that are significantly upgraded.

I don't know but sometimes they combine into something pretty funny like this:

In OKC, there is a North/South road called, Eastern and another called Western. Which makes it fun to give directions in OKC because there is the Northwestern boulevard to contend with. You go north on western and you'll find it on the southwestern corner. Could you repeat that again? In Oregon, there is a bureaucratic process in which one can get to name certain streets.

We have a few streets that have weird names, like centre st which is between two streets.

Not for the town I live in. But I've seen surrounding towns that have some odd street names and I do wonder who gets to chose these names.
