When I click ‘Empty recycle bin’ in WinXP, a dialog box appears asking if I want to permanently delete the folder ‘WINDOWS’. But, there is no such folder in the recycle bin. What's the problem?

    "Windows" can be a hidden folder. When you open the recycle bin , click on tools, folder options, view. There is an option in that list presented to view hidden files and folders. Enable it and you'll see everything that the bin contains. I'd be very leery about deleting that windows folder in there until I figured out why it's there in the first place.

    and when you find that hidden folder as scubabob said, try to rename it if there's really nothing important there before deleting it. if it still refuses to get deleted, unlock it first with an unlocking tool to release it from the grips of any program that might be keeping it.
