  • Gotta love the Roman Catholic church... calling Gluttony a "cardinal sin" than calling for each saint a special "feast day" I'm confused, too. I'd love to hear the answers.
  • Good point...why not give all that food to the poor and fast for the day?
  • Gluttony, in this case, doesn't really mean eating a whole lot, but rather taking much more than you need of anything.
  • I personally do not over eat during Chrismas because I don't celebrate it. I think though that gluttony and overeating once a year is totally different. Gluttony seems like a greediness for food. Or maybe even idoletry of your belly. I think a feast though where you might overeat a little might not be so bad. I ate a whole Quizo's sub and it was delicious.
  • The feast is a celebration, and usually it is accompanied by inviting many to join in, as well as one thing our family does is to make extra food and take it to the shelters to give to those less fortunate. I never thought of having a celebration as gluttony, but I suppose if you have that viewpoint, most everything in our society outside of living in a hut and wiping your butt with leaves is just greed and gluttony.
  • Christians get to pick and choose their sins.....
