  • Because people like ME enjoy seeing old ladies stand in line for hours to throw Fondue pots at each other. I saw one 80-ish lady get hit in the face with a coffee grinder last year at wal-mart. You can't pay for that kind of entertainment.
  • Because it works... they sell a lot of stuff to the insane people who go there that early.
  • They don't call it black Friday for nothing. It's often the day that puts them into the black in their profits. And since everyone else is doing it for that reason, they do too!
  • Because the are people willing to line up waiting for them to open the door. Supply and demand. I will NOT be one of those people, ever.
  • It is part of some ritual that bonds/binds people together..they can share their "war stories" about what it was like on "Black Friday" and what great deals they got! The earlier the better..some people line up at midnight the night before..it is the American Dream! :)
  • because it's a day of evil. thus the "black" in the name "black friday".
  • I think because it works and if you open at odd hours for "sale" shoppers they will come!
