  • Lines of longitude converge on the poles, so you would eventually end up at the North Pole and then head south. Lines of latitude are parallel, so you would stay on the same one.
  • I think that is one of the properties of a space with an odd number of dimensions. Any two points define a line, which can have ends. The line can become an axis of rotation, which defines a circle, which does not have ends. This is one of the deep properties of geometry that mathematicians worry about. One theory says that we can only exist in a space with an odd number of dimensions, and in such a space what you describe will always be true. In an even number of dimensions, I think you can describe another "pole-like" direction.
