  • Well, I think that Answerbag saying that you have to be at least 13 is a-okay. :)
  • IMHO, it should be 15. But we can't really stop anyone younger than that from creating an account. So I think imposing an age requirement is kinda useless.
  • I'd say about 15
  • They may have a real serious question and no one to turn to. If AB was a councelor than what would it's age limit be? I'm guessing 14.
  • AB suffers from way too many knee-jerk answers, so what AB needs is a nice *mature* minimum age, like 60.
  • I like the current one, which I think is 13.
  • What difference does it make? It is unenforcable anyway. My nine year old nephew can surf the net like a pro. He has even joined a few boards. I must admit, his comments are as good as most others there. (lol!)
  • Actually I'm not in favor of limiting..so I'd say if someone is old enough to know how to sign up and communicate, that's fine with me...if that means I'm "talking" to a five-year-old, that's also just fine with me. :)
  • I think they should set some form of regulation but I am not certain of what age it should be. I have met some 15 yr olds that have heaps more common sense than some 30 yr olds (ever watch Cops?...lol) What they need is a live monitor system and not an automated one...although...1000's of questions would need 1000's of people to monitor...no sure-fire answer here...but a dang good question...lol VGQ+++ -Buddy
  • I think there should be no age limit there is a lot of young people on here that really do need help and advise they may feel that it is safer for them to get advise from someone that is not in the middle of a problem and would give them honest advise. Then they are some a lot older and with them they bring great wisdom they have been there and done that. AB is a place to go and get answers to your questions however there are a lot of people here on AB that does tend to make jokes about everything and they to have their place here but aren't always needed. But there are a lot of us that do take things to heart and are very serious and honest in giving their opinion and wanting to help others. So I feel there should not be an age limit the people here on AB should be there to help both young and old.
  • I have to admit I don't like the young people submitting homework questions. But there are some intelligent teenagers here, so I would say 15.
  • I think 13 is a good age for the minimum.
  • No age limits, except for people that are about five or six years old. Answerbag is a community where different types of people asks different types of questions. To ban someone based on his/her age alone would be discrimination.
  • minimum required age should be 13+ because there are some questions which are not appropriate for the age group below 13.
  • When a person is a convicted pedophile, that pedophile MUST register with AB as a convicted pedophile! 21 years and one day and "older" for the more mature folks for AB4Adults. Those folks can "float" among any and all age brackets and categories and answer any Qs. 15 years and one day to 21 for the others. They are not permitted to participate in AB4 Adults, but can go to the juvenile category. I THINK there should be a "Teeny Bopper AB" or "Juvenile AB" for ages 9 and one day through 15. Having the juvenile category will restrict the pet Qs and homework Qs. Thanks for asking your Q! I did my best to answer it. I hope the information helps. • When I first joined some of the top members and they were at that time Sages were 12 ,13, 14 and 15. They were extremely articulate and intelligemt young people. I know The Answerer was an unusual twelve year old but he was a lot more knowledgeable on a lot of subjects that a lot of the adults. At that time he was 12 years old. RFLagg is incredibly mature and he was 14.Fresh Apples was 12/13 and well worth his place. AlanPro and others were all only 13 and 14 at the time and who is to say that they did not deserve to be members here. I think the age 13 is Okay. With it being 13 we are bound to get some silliness but you would get the same if the minimum age was 16 . I wish that all the adult members were as mature as some of the youngsters.
  • I think 18 and then they could have answerbag jr. for anyone younger.
  • I think there shouldn't be an age limit, there should ideally be a maturity test. good luck with that
  • I think that it should be at least 16. It really concerns me to see kids as young as 13 on here asking total strangers certain questions some of which are quite explicit sexual questions.
  • i dont see the point in setting a age limit because there's no way of enforceing it.
  • after reading some answers, I feel ostracized ;) I'd say 14.
  • We had some great young members of 12/13 when I first started on AB in fact they were all at quite high levels Very intelligent and mature crowd of young people
  • Mental age should equal or exceed chronological age.
