  • Maybe because that someone wrote some bad checks that were never resolved.
  • For a very good reason. You are reported to ChexSystems for previous irresponsible handling of your checking accounts. Most likely you bounced a check a didn't make good on it OR you walked away from a checking account with a negative balance, thereby owing the bank money. You should be on that list until you take care of that old business.
  • Usually its because someone mishandled their bank account, like they had too many overdrafts or wrote bad checks. Its the banks way of avoiding a bad customer. But even good people make mistakes, the point is to not repeat it. Sometimes the bank is the one who makes the mistake and you have to pay for it. You know how people tell you to check your credit reports with the 3 credit bureaus? The incidents stay on your report for 5 years after that they fall off. Its not there forever. Well, you also need to check your chexsystems report once a year. The first report is free and afterwards I believe you have to pay. Go to their official site to read all about it. https://www.consumerdebit.com/consumerinfo/us/en/chexsystems/index.htm (yes that's their official site) I've had to write them before and they wrote me an answer. And check out my website on how to get a bank account after you've been listed in chexsystems. http://chexsystems.weebly.com
  • Would you give an account to someone who owes another bank money? I wouldn't. Pay the bank you owe back, and you can open a bank account. You will never be able to get one as long as you have something on chexsystems. That is one thing that doesn't go away after 7 years. It won't be on your credit report, but it will always be on chexsystems.
  • Chexsystems is a credit reporting agency but they agree to remove all negative reports after 5 years and not 7. There are banks and credit unions that will make exceptions to those reported to chexsystems, and there are others that do not use chexsystems at all. Here is a complete list of updated non-chex banks and credit unions. http://www.chexsystemsvictims.com It is also your right the same as with any credit reporting agency to dispute your chexsystems report. All reports must report only accurate information
