ANSWERS: 11
  • Sometime between the seventh and fifth century BC.
  • Ok that was a nice try... but moses(the aouthor of Job) was not born in that time period.
  • There are differing opinions. Check out this link. http://www.probe.org/probe-answers-e-mail/bible/when-was-the-book-of-job-written.html
  • Long ago!
  • Answer 3 of 4 was right. The Hebrew tradition says that Moses may have written Job but there is nothing by way of evidence to prove this tradition. Also, the form and character of Job does not match the first five books of the Old Testament (or Pentateuch) which Moses did pen.
  • even though there are many, many points to be made about when the book was actually penned; the more important question is when does the story take place? What time was Job alive during? there are several in text clues to when he was alive but since many people do not reguard these as evidence then we have to look else where. and that is simple. the earliest copies of the mosaic law books are carbon dated at approx. 2500-1500 BCE. the book of Job is dated even earlier. so if you don't trust the Bible then trust science.

  • "A great diversity of opinion exists as to the origin of this book. [5] From internal evidence, such as the similarity of sentiment and language to those in the Psalms and Proverbs (see Psalms 88 and 89), the prevalence of the idea of "wisdom," and the style and character of the composition, it is supposed by some[citation needed] to have been written in the time of King David and King Solomon. Some[citation needed], however place it in around the time of the Babylonian exile; others have proposed various other theories with a consensus that it is a very early book." "In contrast, comparative literary and historical examinations of the text more generally conclude that, though archaic features such as the "council in heaven" survive, and though the story of Job was familiar to Ezekiel (Chapter 14 verse 14), the present form of Job was fixed in the postexilic period 6th century BC - 5th century BC." • After Genesis but before Revelations? ;-)
  • The book of Job was written down by the Maccabees as with most of the other books of the Old Testament. However, the oral tradition it is based on probably predates Moses. However, as with most books of that antiquity, the dates are not certain. The book of Job is probably the oldest story in the Bible and possibly in the world with the possible exception of flood stories. Dates could possibly be extrapolated from clues in astrological signs in the book but not likely.
