If you tried another monitor and it worked, then the problem lies with the monitor or the cable connecting the monitor to the computer. If you tried it with another monitor and still got no signal, then the problem may be with the video card. If you recently moved the monitor and computer, make sure you have the monitor plugged into the video card and not a different plug in the back of the computer. I did this the other day on accident when I moved my daughters computer... I plugged the monitor into a different plug in the back and got no signal, then it dawned on me that I plugged it in wrong. If it's an older computer this might be the case, on newer computers the likelihood of this happening is slim.

It's a long time since you asked this, but it might help someone with the same problem which I also had a while back. I had been away for a few days and left everything unplugged. It turned out that the computer BIOS battery had run down. Remove the battery (usually, a common silver coin size type) from the motherboard. Try to boot up. If you succeed, leave the battery out until you get a replacement from a computer/camera/electrical accessories store.
