I got a careless driving ticket for rear-ending another car at about 5 mph and causing no damage. Can I fight this ticket?

Probably you were obstructing the traffic flow, so I woiuld say that moving violation/careless driving ticket does really valid the violation, even if you were checking for train. Try to keep the traffic flow smoothly without being careless driving/moving violation. If I were you in your shoe, I would just pay the ticket and get over it, since its a waste of time to fight it in court and then lose, and pay very expensive fees (court and attorney) for wasting their time to make the ruling. Judge have other cases to hear about, so I would recommend you just pay the ticket and get over it.

Before the accident, other than driving your vehicle, what was taking place inside your vehicle? were you talking on a cellphone? playing loud, distracting music? apparently, the officer issued the citation, based on the events, inside your vehicle, before the accident. a careless driving citation, can be based on any event, that draws your attention away from your driving, especially if this event contributes to an accident. 99.9% of rear end crashes are the fault of the automobile behind.

of course you can fight it, and you will probably win. Read what your specific traffic law states about Careless Driving and it will probably in no way reflect what you did. The best is to hire a professional though.
