  • A good chance to clear his name of the terrible allegations which could not possibly be true! Corruption, Major League Sports and BIG Money. A very unlikely combination if you are at all star struck by sports figures. (Tongue firmly in cheek.)
  • It's about time the whole issue was taken out of the hands of rumour-mongering journalists, fans, and the ham-fisted MLB, and dealt with by the legal system. The whole "did he, didn't he, asterisk?" debate has dragged on for way too long and achieved nothing apart from cheap headlines, so it is very much a positive thing from where I'm sitting that charges have been filed and the matter can start to be "put to bed" (although there is still a long way for this to run, obviously), either with a conviction or an acquittal, and then baseball can move on properly from the steroids debate. A side note: I think this effectively retires him from the game, which is a touch sad even though I can't stand the man. But he is out of contract, and who is going to sign an overpriced 42 year-old with bad knees who may have to miss huge chunks of the season to defend himself from going to prison? I can't see it, and I wish it could have ended differently.
