I love well behaved children...you can take them anywhere and know that they won't be an embarrassment. I applaud those parents!

Naw, he would still get in the way of waiters/waitresses as they come thru, (cause Lord knows, they don't put those tables very far apart)! This child needs to be taught how to behave in certain situations. My wife and I took a vacation, many moons ago, with a couple who were good friends. We each brought our kids, also, (them 2, ages 6 and 3, and us, our 3 year old daughter). The very 1st restaurant we ate in, was the very last, (on that trip)! Their son was allowed to run ALL THRU THE RESTAURANT during the whole meal! He would stop every 10 minutes or so, to get a bite to eat, then take off running again. One nearby couple asked if they would have him sit down, to which our friends replied, "If we make him sit down, he will SCREAM the whole time". That couple asked to see the manager, (I didn't blame them one bit)! Their table had been bumped numerous times. I even tried to get him to sit by me and play a game. It didn't work. The manager asked us to leave. I was fuming! Needless to say, when we got to our destination, the 1st stop was the grocery store! We ate IN the whole week! We, also, never went on vacation with them again!

I think most of us that are "older" were brought better. fortunately, in the case of that child, there is proof that some parents still teach kids to behave. my brother and I never ran around like that...in restaurants, stores or at a friends house. if we did, we'd get spanked (not beaten, spanked). I think some people are afraid if they spank (or discipline in some other way) their kid that people will accuse them of abuse. and some people will jump to that conclusion! I worked with a gal who took her toddler shopping at Wal-Mart, and he threw a tantrum because he wanted a toy. she told him to behave, or they'd leave. he didn't, so she left the cart and left the store. she never hit him, but someone heard him screaming and called security. they followed her out to the car and interrogated her. it was really humiliating for her. and she did the right thing!
