  • its not a screw your looking for, its the white gear at the end of the disc tray, open it up, and hit the eject button, the white gear will be at the back end of ps2 ( opposite end of the direction the tray comes out it) it will have a silver tab resting against it to lock it in place, make sure you mark a line where it is resting on the white gear, so you will know when you have completed a 360 degree cycle. Now place a disc in the tray(make sure you use the white disc on top of the disc(it has a magnet that holds down the disc) and try to run your disc. if it comes up Disc Read Error, hit eject and move the gear a click. then repeat the same process untill you find the laser strength that will work for your ps2
  • the adjustment screws are found on the bottom of the laser itself. there are two of them, one for the dvd laser and the other is for the cd laser. they should be labeled. you should have a multi meter to read the voltages. you only need to make small adjustments (1 degree at a time) your dvd should be between 650 and 1000 volts and your cd should be between 950 and 1200 volts. Good luck!
  • Been awhile but are you sure about your voltages? Are you sure thats not the resistance read on the POT's. Seeing how there is only 120volts going into the unit and there does not appear to be any significant step up transformers in the unit I am guessing it is ohms rather then volts. Either way I too am trying to increase the laser strength on my unit of the same model ps2. I keep finding the how to write ups on the internet about adjusting the gear which mine does not have. I have also found the write ups on bending the tap on the laser which mine also does not have. I would really like to get the test points and proper ohms readings for the laser adjustments if anyone has that detailed info please help.
