There are just too many for me to give you a comprehensive answer. There are big-name science institutions like CalTech, MIT, and Harvey Mudd, but you can also get a good physics education at a liberal arts college (of which there are many!). Head to a bookstore or your local library and check for the college guides published by organizations like Barron's or the Princeton Review. For American universities, they provide lots of information about everything from academics to the social scene. And they will usually tell what the most popular majors are, or if there are certain fields that the school is particularly well-known for. If you're in a library that shelves its non-fiction books according to the Dewey Decimal System, just head straight to 378.16. That's where all the college-search resources are, and there are usually lots of them!

The best undergraduate physics program is at Reed College in Portland Oregon. Its expensive, the school is small, but they have more graduates then most of the major universites Its easy to get lost at MIT and be tought by graduate students. Harvey Mudd is a real contender. Most of the big name schools do not focus on the undergraduate. They are more concerned with research and publishing. Physics professors can be a real pain in the @*( while they are seeking academic reconition. but hey, what do I know
