http://www.steetley.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=index&catid=3&topic=&allstories=1 Lists "Electrical Earthing" a number of times: Under the product name "Steebent CE": "...sodium activated bentonite with high swelling characteristics suitable for most civil engineering applications. Such as piling, grouting, electrical earthing, sealing and caisson sinking." and also as a general property of bentonites: "Moisture Retention Bentonites improve the moisture retention of soils and hence are useful in electrical earthing applications." along with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bentonite, These references suggest Either Sodium Bentonite as usefull as an Electrical earthing material, or Calcium Bentonite doped with 5-10% Sodium bentonite, in order for the Calcium type to exhibit properties of the Sodium type. Running over that again: The Sodium Bentonite has the properties you are after, but the Calcium type can be made to display some of those properties (to a lesser extent, I'm not sure how much less) by adding and mixing in some Sodium Bentonite to the Calcium Bentonite. Hope this helps.
