A fascinator is a headpiece worn on the hair and worn almost exclusively by women. Fascinators are commonly made with feathers, flowers and/or beads. They attach to the hair by a comb, headband or clip. They are an adornment for formal attire and are an alternative to wearing a hat. They are particularly popular at premium horse racing events, such as the Melbourne Cup or the Grand National. They may also be worn at weddings by guests, and also as an alternative to a bridal veil. They are available pre-made, but are also quite easy and cost effective to self assemble.
